What it costs to sell with us
We're a Bring a Trailer Local Partner and a licensed Idaho dealer. We put your car on the biggest enthusiast auction platform in the country — and unlike a private listing, you don't lift a finger.
Two paths to selling on BaT
BaT's published listing tiers are $99 (Classic), $429 (Plus), and $2,500 (White Glove). Cheap in dollars. But then it's on you: shoot 250-plus clean photos, write a listing that actually sells, answer every comment and message for the full auction, vet the high bidder, collect the funds, and handle the title and shipping. Miss on the photos or the description and you leave real money on the table.
You hand us the keys. We handle the rest — and we only get paid when you do.
What you pay
Commission — only if it sells:
- 10% on vehicles under $50,000 (a $5,000 minimum applies)
- 8% on $50,001 to $150,000
- 6% on anything over $150,000
Marketing fee — a flat $500, which covers:
- Your Bring a Trailer listing fee
- 250–300 professional photos from our studio
- 2–4 videos and rolling shots
What the commission already includes
No line-item surprises. Your commission covers:
- Complete concours detailing — a $1,500–$2,500 value on its own
- 30 days of temperature-controlled storage
- Trailered transport to and from our photo studio and any service providers
Optional add-ons
Only if your car needs them, and only with your go-ahead:
- $185 compression test, if required
- Dry ice undercarriage restoration, $1,500–$2,500
Worth knowing up front
We list for a 60-day consignment period. If it doesn't sell at auction, we can keep working it for another 45 days.
As a licensed dealer, every car clears a basic mechanical-safety check before it's photographed or listed. Anything safety-related gets sorted first — that's how we keep the listings clean and the buyers confident.
You get paid within 30 days of the sale closing — once the signed documents, the buyer's payment, and delivery are all wrapped up.
The math, plainly
Say your car sells for $40,000. Your cost is the $5,000 minimum commission plus the $500 marketing fee — $5,500 total — and you did none of the work, the concours detail was included, and it went in front of hundreds of thousands of serious buyers. Sell a $200,000 car and the commission drops to 6%. The bigger the car, the smaller the slice we take.
